Funeral services for Gertrude K. Bachtell, 91, were held Monday, Sept. 19, 1988 at 10 a.m. in the Eastern Star Masonic Chapel in Boone, Iowa. Rev. Gerald LaMotte officiated. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery, Postville, Iowa.

Gertrude Bachtell, daughter of Edmund and Hattie (Clark) Prior, was born April 26, 1897 in Postville, Iowa.

She married Ralph Bachtell in March, 1918. She was an LPN in the Chicago area for a number of years before retiring. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Order of Eastern Star #233.

She was preceded in death by an infant son and her sister, Pauline Ellis.

Survivors include 2 sons: Charles (Betty) Bachtell of Berwyn, IL and Robert (Leona) Bachtell of Vienna, VA; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
