Funeral services for Mrs. Louis W. Brandt were held Tuesday, at 2 p.m., at the E. U. B. Church in Castalia, with burial in the Castalia cemetery. The Rev. Richard Ludden was in charge of the rites.

Elsie Grace Deal was born March 20, 1900, the daughter of Jacob and Estella Deal, near Rossville and passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville on September 23, 1961. She was a member of the United Brethren Church.

She attended school at Rossville and later moved to the Postville vicinity. She was married to Louis W. Brandt on December 8, 1920 at Decorah by the Rev. George Woodall at the Methodist parsonage.

The couple began farming near Ossian. In 1933, they quit farming and moved to Postville, where they have made their home since.

Mrs. Brandt is survived by her husband; one adopted son, John Brandt of Providence, Rhode Island; 3 granddaughters, and one sister, Mrs. Amos Ames of Postville. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
