Otto W. Brandt

Otto William Brandt, the son of Ernest and Bertha (Kuhse) Brandt, was born May 30, 1909 in Clermont township, Fayette county, Iowa. He was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on June 27, 1909 and was confirmed on September 2, 1923. He died at the LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital on June 18, 1961 at the age of 52 years and 18 days.

He was educated in the Postville Schools, graduating from the Postville High School in 1927. He farmed with his father and brothers on the home farm, and later with his brother, Raymond. He moved with his mother to Postville in 1951, and operated the bowling alley in Postville for a number of years. Since his mothers death he lived alone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Gilbert, who died as the result of an automobile accident in California.

He is survived by 3 brothers, Raymond and Verni, both of Clermont, and Clarence of Postville; one sister, Mable, Mrs. Leon Topp of El Cajon, California; 2 half-brothers, Chris Fischer of Amber, Iowa, and Walter Fischer of San Fernando, California; one half-sister, Viola, Mrs. Howard Kratz of Hampton, Iowa, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville, today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. with the pastor, the Rev. Charles E. Witt, officiating. Burial will be in the Postville cemetery.
