Funeral Services Held Fred C. M. Blumhagen

Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Postville at 2 p.m. on June 10, with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, officiating. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Fred C. M. Blumhagen, was born on a farm near Castalia on April 19, 1874, the son of August and Minnie Gebat Blumhagen. He was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on June 21, 1874 and confirmed March 25, 1888. He died on June 7, 1961 at the age of 87 years, one month, and 19 days.

He was married to Bertha Krogman on April 3, 1907, and they made their home on the farm where he had been born. They lived here all their lives. Following the death of Mrs. Blumhagen, he moved, with his son Elmer, to the town of Postville on February 3, 1960.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, John; and 3 sisters: Minnie and Anna, both of who died at a young age, and Mrs. Sophia Baird of Portland, Oregon.

He is survived by his son, Elmer, and many other relatives and friends.
