Funeral services for Ralph Lee French, age 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 15 at Teahen Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Nullmeyer of Calvary Chapel in Iowa City, Iowa officiating. There will be military services conducted by the American Legion Post #727. *The obituary did not mention the place of burial.*

Ralph Lee French, son of Roy Lee French and Florence (Baldwin) French, was born August 5, 1927 in Postville, Iowa. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a graduate of Upper Iowa University. He married Orvelda "Orvie" Mae Dahling on November 26, 1952 in Postville, Iowa. He retired as an accountant in 1986 after 32 years with Collins and then worked for over 20 years at the U.S. Cellular Center. He loved spending his time woodworking and watching for hours the squirrels and birds who ate from his feeders.

Ralph Lee French died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Steven French, and two brothers, Floyd French and Dale French.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Orvie; two sons, David (Martha Rhodes)French of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Dan French of Delhi, Iowa; daughter, Beth (David) Bain of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren, Ryan Bain, Austin Bain, Lane French, and Abby French; two sisters, Clara Heck of Postville, Iowa, Arlene (Don) Lau of Traer, Iowa; two brothers, Dean (Karen) French of Dunkerton, Iowa and Kenneth (Gerry) French of Elkader, Iowa, and his two cats, Callie and Jacob.
