Death of Sven E. Hesla
Sven E. Hesla, one of the early settlers of Paint Creek township, died at his home in that township last Friday, at the advanced age of 75 years.
Some three years ago he was stricken with paralysis from which he did not fully recover. He was born in Norway July 10, 1825, and emigrated to the United States in the spring of 1845, locating in Rock county, Wisconsin. In 1850 he came to this county, locating on the farm which was his home up to the time of his death. He married Ingebor Gorder May 10, 1859, and to them were born eleven children, seven of whom are living: Endre, now residing on a farm near Vermilion, S.D.; Ragnild, now Mrs. Syver Leikvold, of Elon; Rosina, Bertha, Peter and Oscar at home, and Albert of Devil's Lake, N. Dak.
Mr. Hesla was for several years trustee of his township, and held in high esteem by all. He was a member of the Lutheran church.
The funeral was held Sunday at the new East Paint Creek church, Rev. M. Borge, of Glenwood, Winnesheik county, conducting the services. [Republican.Lansing Mirror, 14 Sept. 1900 P 8 C 1
