Friends of Mrs. Chas. Nierling of French Creek township, were startled Friday to learn of her death early that morning. She had been in quite poor health for a year past but the suddenness of death's summons was a painful shock to her family and acquaintances. Mrs. Nierling was formerly Miss Barbara Keffeler, daughter of D. Keffeler, of Lansing township. She was 31 years of age in [illegible] last. Her marriage to Mr. Nierling took place June 11, 1895, who with two little daughters survive her. The greatest sympathy of the entire community attends them in their loss of a cherished wife and a loving and devoted mother.
The funeral took place Sunday, services being held at the Lycurgus church. The edifice was packed and many were unable to gain admittance, so large was the number of acquaintances of the deceased in attendance at the last sad rites to pay tribute to her memory. Rev. Terence Brady of Lansing, whose ordination as a priest took place recently, officiated, being assisted by Father Norton. Father Brady's sermon was a most beautiful and touching effort, and the many hundreds present were profoundly impressed with the eloquence and fervency of his discourse.Lansing Mirror, Aug. 2, 1901 P 1 C 1
