Arthur Augedahl, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at the age of 76 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
Arthur Jerome Augedahl was born March 3, 1925, the son of Adolph M. Augedahl and his wife Tilda (Kjerland) in Waterloo Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. He attended the Bear Creek and Highland schools and was a member of the Waterloo Ridge Lutheran Church.
Arthur married Dolores Marnach on Jan. 9, 1946, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Caledonia, Minn. The couple farmed in Caledonia Township and Sheldon Township before moving in November 1952 to a farm they purchased from the late Pete Bubbers in Crooked Creek Township, Houston County, Minn. Arthur worked and was part owner of Brady's Elevator in Caledonia until it was sold in 1976 to Land O'Lakes, where he continued until fall 1986, when he retired from Land O'Lakes. For the next several years he worked part time at Bob's Farm and Home, Cenex Land O'Lakes and Farmers Coop Elevator, and he also farmed. Trout fishing, hunting, reading and playing cards gave him much enjoyment. He was loved by his family and friends for the great generous love and concern he so graciously offered to them in times of need and by just being a good listener. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; one sister, Viola (Jim) Strub of Lansing, Iowa; and the following children: six sons, David (Helen), Robert (Anne), Paul (Lorna), Philip (Cindy) and William (Kimberlee), all of Caledonia, and Michael of La Crescent, Minn.; two daughters, Mary Clare (Bill) Klug and Ann Marie (Tony) Bauer, both of Caledonia; 28 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Anna Vikre; one son, Gerard Patrick; and one great-grandson, Ethan Augedahl. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brownsville. Father Paul Breza will officiate and burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Breza Hall, St. Patrick's Church, Brownsville, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friends also may call one hour prior to services at the church Thursday. Memorials are preferred by the family. The McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, is assisting the family with arrangements.source: LaCrosse Tribune, LaCrosse, WI; 1/23/2002
