Robert C. Colsch, 85, of Lansing, formerly of New Albin, died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 30 at Christ Community Church in New Albin, with Rev. Jim Olsen officiating at the service. Interment was at St. Joseph Cemetery, New Albin.
Robert C. Colsch was born December 20, 1925 at rural New Albin. He was the son of Nicholas and Charlotte (Theobold) Colsch. Bob received his education in the rural school at New Albin. In 1941 he entered the U.S. Navy and served overseas in Japan.
October 24, 1946 he was united in marriage to Lucille Burroughs at the Catholic Church in Caledonia, MN. Bob farmed his entire life at Sand Cove, rural New Albin. He enjoyed watching his Black Angus cattle and corn grow. He also enjoyed reading and studying the bible. He liked to play euchre and was fond of his John Deere tractors. Bob's children and grandchildren were very important to him, as he earned the title "Grandpa Robert".
He is survived by five sons, Dennis of Shellsburg, Roger (Mary Kay) of New Albin, Joe (Denise) of New Albin, Les (Jennifer) of New Albin and Bruce (Angie) of New Albin; three daughters, Linda (Ralph) Barrette of Stoddard, WI, Diane (John) Kohlmeier of Caledonia, MN and Laura (Kyle) Leppert of Onalaska, WI; three brothers, Harold (Shirley) of Waukon, Lloyd (Shelia) of New Albin and Dale (Wanda) of Plainfield; one sister, Arlene (Delbert) Swatosh of Oak Harbor, WA; 27 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Carl Hanson of LaCrosse, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille, July 24, 2000; a daughter, Debbie Hanson; and four brothers, LeRoy, Carl, Clem and Ed.The Waukon Standard, August 31, 2011
