A memorial service was held September 18 for Clara E. (James) Huenemann, age 92, who died Tuesday, August 17, 1999 in Milwaukee, Oregon. The service was at the First Congregational Church in Portland, Oregon. Interment will be in Garner, Iowa on October 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the Peace Reformed Church and Cemetery.

Clara was born December 3, 1906 at Bon Homme County, South Dakota. She taught third grade in Hot Springs, South Dakota for nine years. She married Dr. Ruben Huenemann *See the note below* in 1936. Clara was active with the Foreign Student Center at the University of Minnesota, was an officer in church women United and chair of the Residents Council at Willamette View. Clara had been a resident of Portland, Oregon since 1970.

She is survived by her husband Ruben Huenemann; 2 sons Robert Huenemann of La Honda, California and Ralph Huenemann of Victoria, British Columbia, and 2 daughters, Carol Eick of Waukon, Iowa and Grace Huenemann-Sher, of San Francisco, California; 5 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

NOTE OF THE TRANSCRIBER: The link to Allamakee County is through her husband, Ruben. Ruben Henry Huenemann was the son of William and Mary (Hansmeier) Huenemann. Ruben Henry Huenemann's father lived on a farm near Waukon, Iowa. Ruben was born in 1909 in Allamakee County, Iowa, the eldest child of 14 children. Ruben died December 23, 2003. Ruben was a pastor and teacher. His father was also a pastor and several of his brothers became ministers. Ruben was the Founding President of United Theological Seminary in New Brighton, Minnesota.

During the time that the William Huenemann family lived in or around Waukon, Iowa they were members of the Zion Reformed German Church of Waukon. Both William and Ruben are listed in the Church history as sons of the church who went on to become ministers.
Ruben's siblings were: Dr. Ruth Huenemann (her obituary is also posted on the Allamakee obituary board), Calvin Huenemann, Karl Huenemann, Elmer Huenemann, Roland Huenemann, Edward Huenemann (he became a minister like his father and brother), Lorenz Huenemann, Paul Huenemann, William Huenemann (he was also a minister), Miriam (Huenemann) Huber, Lois (Huenemann) Streyle, Erma (Huenemann) Buehrer, and Dorothea (Huenemann) Volkert.

The transcriber is not related but the daughter, Carol Eick perhaps was married to Rev. Richard Eick who was a minister in Waukon, Iowa. He had officiated at the graveside services for Ruben's sister, Dr. Ruth Lois Huenemann in 2005.
