Funeral services for Helen Richards, age 73, of New Albin, Iowa will be held October 6, at 1:00 p.m. a St. Peters United Church of Christ in New Albin, Iowa. Rev. William Reese will officiate and burial will follow at the Peace United Church of Christ Cemetery in Crooked Creek. The Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home of Caledonia, Minnesota is in charge of arrangements.

Helen was born October 11, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Michael and Anna (Shusko) Skala. She married Robert Richards in Minneapolis, Minnesota on November 16, 1946. They lived in Crooked Creek Township and in New Albin, Iowa. She was an employee of Northern Engraving in Lansing, Iowa.

Helen Richards died September 30, 1999 at the Walls Regional Hospital in Cleburne, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter and son, and her sister Julia Skala.

Helen is survived by her husband, Robert; 4 daughters, Susan (Mike) Lee of Caledonia, Minnesota, Dawn (Art) Schobert and Heidi (Denny) Sickles, both of Lansing, Iowa and Joy (Don) Rusk of Gilbert, Arizona and 2 sons, Stephen Richards of Brownsville, Minnesota and Jay Richards of Freeburg, Minnesota; 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; 1 sister Mary Boris and 1 brother, Mike Skala, both of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
