Funeral services for John "Jack" William Beisker, age 75, of Waukon, Iowa were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Lynn Groe and Rev. David Schafer officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery with arrangements by Martin Funeral Home. Casket bearers were his grandchildren: Angela Cooper, Matthew Howe, Rebecca Decker, John Howe, Daniel Howe, Thomas Howe, Zachary Howe, Carmen Mauk, Amanda Shaffer, Gabriel Feuerhelm, Michael Feuerhelm, Sarah Feuerhelm, Rachel Feuerhelm, Zachariah Nobis-Olson, Jasmine Nobis-Olson, and Douglas Beisker-Olson.

John William Beisker, son of George and Alice (Ewing) Beisker, was born September 7, 1923 in rural Winneshiek County, Iowa. Jack attended rural elementary schools and three years at Waukon High School. He received his GED in 1979. Jack was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1939. On October 28, 1947 he married Arlene Miller at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. They farmed and trucked until 1962 when they purchased a store in Rossville, Iowa. For over 20 years, they operated Beisker's General Merchandise, and in 1980 they remodeled the store into a supper club which they ran until 1993. Jack served as Jefferson Township Clerk, and from 1972-1984, he was a county supervisor. He was a member of the Rural Fire Board, Kiwanis, and St. John's Lutheran Church.

John "Jack" William Beisker died Sunday, June 6, 1999 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Georgia Riehm, and Virginia Kellison, and 3 brothers, George Beisker, Dean Beisker, and Marvin Beisker.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Arlene; 4 daughters, Janice (Wayne) Howe of Waukon, Iowa, Bonnie Shaffer of Waukon, Iowa, Regina (Ross) Feuerhelm of Decorah, Iowa, and Sandra (David) Olson of Galena, Illinois; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Amanda (George) Kelbl of Dennison, Iowa and 3 brothers, Roger Beisker of Waukon, Iowa, David (Delores) Beisker of Monona, Iowa and Larry (Ruth) Beisker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
