Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Leo Dunn, age 91, of Waukon, Iowa were held December 7 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Waukon with the Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in the St. Mary's Hanover Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Campbell, Cletus Rooney, Ed Wikan, Vince Haas, Ben Quillan, and Wayne Burk. Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon handled all of the arrangements.
Leo Dunn, son of James and Clara (Meyer) Dunn, was born April 2, 1908 in Caledonia, Minnesota. He married Regina Russell. He spent his working life farming in the area.
Leo Dunn died December 4, 1999 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Regina, his daughter Miriam Thunder and a son James Leo Dunn.
Leo is survived by his brother Arthur Dunn of LaCrescent, Minnesota, a granddaughter Mary Lindquist of Cokato, Minnesota and 2 great-grandchildren James Lindquist and Shannon Lindquist.
NOTE: Leo Dunn's brother, Arthur William Dunn died at the age of 82 on February 19, 2000 at the LaCrescent Healthcare Center, in LaCrescent, Minnesota. Arthur was buried in the St. Nicholas Cemetery in Freeburg, Minnesota. Arthur William Dunn was born April 9, 1917 in Caledonia, Minnesota. He never married. After serving in the US Army during WWII, he returned home to the family farm and farmed with his parents. He had fought in 4 major battles with the 351st Regiment of the 88th Division of the Fifth Army in Italy. He was severely wounded in the Appenines and received the Purple Heart and a Presidential Citation. He also earned the Combat infantry Badge and four battle stars.
