Funeral services for Marcellus "M.P." Quandahl, age 82, of Mineola, Texas, and formerly of Waukon, Iowa, were held Saturday, March 24 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, Iowa Burial was in the Salem Cemetery in rural Waukon, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family.

Marcellus Peter "M.P." Quandahl, son of Edward Christopher and Petra (Clauson) Quandahl, was born on January 31, 1919 in Waterloo Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On July 26, 1948 he was united in marriage with Ruth Louise Becker. M.P. operated a filling station in Waukon and farmed in rural Spring Grove, Minnesota and LaCrescent, Minnesota before moving to Quincy, Illinois where he operated an auto dealership for 35 years. The past 14 years he has operated M.P. Auto Sales in Mineola, Texas. He was a member of the VFW Post in Mineola and the American Legion Lodge of Tyler, Texas.

Marcellus Peter "M.P." Quandahl died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 in Tyler, Texas, following injuries received in an automobile accident. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Frederick Quandahl and two brothers, Nels Quandahl, and Emory Quandahl. Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Mineola, Texas; 3 sons, David Quandahl of Mineola, Texas, and Philip Quandahl and Dean (Pat) Quandahl, both of Dallas, Texas; and 3 sisters, Betty Sommermeyer of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Alice Volz of Mesa, Arizona, and Ella Henderson of Wheaton, Illinois.
