Olson, age 84, of Waterville, Iowa were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 31 at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Don Todd, Leslie Laterman, Howard Kolsrud, Lonnie Tysland, Don Larsen, and Dave Snitker. Honorary bearers were Norman and John Rema, Joe Tysland, Ray Odegard, and Willard Roe.
Myrtle Clara, daughter of Sever and Martha (Hanson) Kolsrud, was born January 13, 1912 on their farm in rural Waterville, Iowa. She attended rural Waterville elementary and graduated from the Waterville High School in 1930. On July 17, 1934 she married Hjalmer Olson at the Old East Paint Creek Lutheran parsonage. They farmed in the Waterville area until 1946 when they moved to Waukon, Iowa. She worked as a sales clerk for many years at Hale's and Graham's Department stores. Myrtle also baked pies for local restaurants for 15 years. She was a lifetime Allamakee County resident and a member of Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church and its women's organizations.
Myrtle Clara Olson died Wednesday, August 28, 1996 at the Good Samaritan Center where she had lived since 1993.
She is survived by her husband,four nephews and two nieces.
