SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. FRED BEEMAN

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred L. Beeman, well known lady of Waukon were held Sunday afternoon in her home with the Rev. A. C. Culver of the Methodist church officiating. The services were attended by a great number of the deceased’s long time friends of this vicinity as well as some from a distance. Music was provided by an unaccompanied trio comprised of Mrs. P. D. Cota, Mrs. G. B. Richter and daughter, Miss, Jean, who sang “Brahm’s Prayer.” Burial was in Oakland cemetery and the pall bearers were Boyd W. Smith, Will Peterson, C. H. Megorden, W. H. Niehaus, Horace Howe and Otto Ney.

Mrs. Beeman passed away in her home Thursday evening after a long illness. In spite of an extended period as a semi-invalid, she maintained close contact with her friends and was provided at all times with every comfort and necessity by a devoted and patient husband.
Being very accomplished intellectually, Mrs. Beeman was a profound reader, was a member of the Browning Study club, the local chapter of the P. E. O., and of the Methodist church, all of which received her valuable support whenever her health permitted.

She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at Northwestern University, and after her graduation she taught English in the high school at Kenosha, Wis., for three years. She was married to Fred Beeman on February 7, 1905.

A daughter of Major and Mrs. D. W. Reed, Gertrude Reed, was born in Waukon on January 23, 1876 and spent her early years here. Later, the family moved to Evanston, Ill., where she completed her formal education in Northwestern University.

After her marriage to Fred Beeman about 35 years ago, the couple made their home in Waukon, where the deceased had since resided.

Besides her husband, surviving to mourn her passing are a daughter, Mrs. Harold Sage of Dodge City, Kansas; a son, Leon Beeman of Moline, Ill., and a sister, Miss M. Althea Reed, of Fort Wayne, Ind.
