Alice Larson, 57, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at her home of melanoma cancer. Alice was born June 20, 1947, in La Crosse, Wis., the daughter of Leo and Marcella Manning Mullarkey.

She married Gary Larson May 20, 1972, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wexford, Iowa. Alice graduated from St. George High School, Lansing, and Gates Business College, Waterloo. She had worked 10 years for Members Mutual Oil Company, then started an in-home daycare. She was beginning her 24th year when she had to give up daycare because of her illness.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Chris (Sheila) Larson, Matt Larson, and Andy Larson (Heidi Orchard), all of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Matthew, and Olivia Delagardelle of Waterloo; her father, Leo Mullarkey of Lansing, Iowa; five sisters, Peggy (Leonard) Gebhardt of Cedar Falls, Mary Lou (Jerry) Chapin and Rita (Roger) Ludwig, both of Waterloo, Joanne (Ronald) Prew of Eastman, Wis., and Jeanne (Curtis) Palmer of Lynxville, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Becky Nielsen of Waterloo; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many extended daycare families.

She was preceded in death by her mother; infant sister Marie; paternal grandparents Michael and Mary Mullarkey; maternal grandparents Patrick and Louise Manning; and a niece, Annette Nielsen. Services were held Friday, September 3, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo with burial in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Wexford. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
