Funeral services for Florence B. Johnston, age 95, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa were held Friday, August 12 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa with Father Joseph Schneider and Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in the Cherry Mound Cemetery, rural Harpers Ferry, Iowa. Hanson Funeral Home in Waukon assisted with the arrangements. Casketbearers were Mike Valley, Shawn Johnston, Robert Czeck, Barbara Czeck, Curt Johnston and Kevin Johnston.

Florence, daughter of Ed and Francis (Parcim) Heim, was born May 7, 1916 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa. She married Leo Johnston at Cherry Mound after high school and the two lived their lives together as farmers in the Harpers Ferry area. Florence enjoyed playing cards, volunteering, crocheting, and knitting. She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa.

Florence B. Johnston passed away August 9, 2011 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings, Genevieve Francis Heim, who died at the age of six months, Ed Heim, Jr., John Heim, Margaret Erding, and a grandson, Carl Czeck, Jr.

Florence is survived by her children, James Johnston of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Lavonne Wegman of Manchester, Iowa and Judy Czeck of Wyoming, Minnesota; and 13 grandchildren.
