Funeral services for Ethel (Rongstad) Stone, former Allamakee County, Iowa resident at Henrytown Lutheran Church in rural Canton, Minnesota on Wednesday, December 27 with the Rev. Wayne Hagen officiating at the 1:30 p.m. services. Burial was in the Prosper Cemetery in Prosper, Minnesota.

Ethel, daughter of Otto and Julia (Hanson) Rongstad, was born April 12, 1907 in Waterville, Iowa. She was the first one baptized at the Waterville Lutheran Church. She attended school in Waterville, Iowa. On March 5, 1927 she married Lawrence Stone at Winona, Minnesota. They lived in Prosper before moving to Canton, Minnesota. She was past secretary of the Prosper Cemetery association and news correspondant for the Mabel, Harmony, and Decorah newspapers.

Ethel died December 23, 1989 at Green Lea Manor nursing home in Mabel, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence, who died June 13, 1984, a brother Odin Rongstad, and a grandchild.

She is survived by 2 sons, Ronald Stone of Spring Grove, Minnesota and LeRoy Stone of Winona, Minnesota, and 4 great-grandchildren.
