Funeral services for Clarence Gilman Larson, age 84, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 29 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa with Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in the God's Acre Cemetery in Clermont, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Rick Larson, Russ Larson, Jeremy Hansmeier, Roger Peterson, Ryan Peterson, and Reid Peterson. Honorary bearers were Marvin Flack, David Flack, Evart Hughes, Everett McKee, Lester Engen, and Earl Iverson.

Clarence Gilman Larson, son of Louis and Mathea (Anderson) Larson, was born April 1, 1914 on their rural Waterville, Iowa Allamakee County farm. He attended Waterville schools. On March 1, 1935 he married Mildred Jean Flack at the Waterville Lutheran Church parsonage. Clarence worked for several area farmers until buying his own farm in 1943. He continued farming until retiring in 1975. Since 1994 he and Jean lived in Waukon, Iowa.

Clarence died Saturday September 26, 1998 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters.

He is survived by his wife Mildred Jean; 3 daughters, Shirley (Kermit) Peterson of Charles City, Iowa, Sharon (Daniel) Sonnicksen of Oelwein, Iowa, and Sandi (LeRoy) Snyder of Castalia, Iowa, and a son, Robert (Eleanor) Larson of Waterville, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

NOTE: The obituary did not list his brothers and sisters, but Melvin L. Larson was one of the brothers of Clarence Larson.
