Quandahl, age 87, of Waukon, Iowa were held Monday, June 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Waterloo Ridge Lutheran Church, rural Spring Grove, Minnesota. The Rev. Gordon Smedsrud was the officiating clergyman. Burial was in the Waterloo Ridge Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were John Quandahl, Quentin Quandahl, Jerry Bulman, Allen Quandahl, Greg Tangen, Tom Quandahl, Lowell Gavle, and Ben Stroh.
Carrie M., daughter of Ed and Ida (Fretheim) Osmundson, was born May 8, 1903 in Waterloo Ridge Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. She attended rural Allamakee County elementary (Bear Creek School) and Waukon High School. On December 24, 1925 she was united in marriage to Sander Olaf Quandahl at Big Canoe Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, Iowa. They farmed in Quandahl for 30 years and moved to Waukon in 1955. She had been a resident at the Good Samaritan Center since 1987. She was a farmwife-homemaker, and also worked at the Quandahl Rood Ranch in Waukon, Iowa for several years. She was a member of Sarah Circle at Waterloo Ridge Lutheran Church and was an affiliate member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa, where she was a long time member of the Bible study group. Carrie enjoyed raising flowers and gardening. She loved her large family, including her 118 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carrie M. Quandahl died Saturday, June 9, 1990 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sander; 3 brothers, Jeremiah Osmundson, Henry Osmundson, and Benjamin Osmundson, and a sister, Edith Osmundson.
She is survived by 5 daughters; Eloise (Delbert) Bulman and Sandra (Gordon) Tangen, both of Dorchester, Iowa, Naomi (Roger) Ferguson of Kaumakani, Hawaii, Beverly (Ronald) Gavle of Decorah, Iowa, and Marsha Stroh of Waterloo, Iowa; 4 sons, Osmund "Ozzie" Quandahl, Richard Quandahl, and Roger Quandahl, all of Waukon, Iowa, and Paul Quandahl of Decorah, Iowa; 50 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Inga Olsen of Algonquin, Illinois and Agnes Ramlo of Decorah, Iowa.
