Funeral services for Wilbur H. Reckward of Postville, Iowa were held Saturday, May 19 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Julius Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Craig Bodley, Kenneth Everman, Bill Buddenberg, Kenneth Wendel, Eugene Szabo, and Frank Hangartner.

Wilbur Herman Reckward, son of Herman and Mabel (Harvey) Reckward, was born June 16, 1918 at Castalia, Iowa. He was baptized March 29, 1953 by the Rev. Frederick Ludwig at St. Paul Lutheran Church and was received into the church on April 5, 1953. Wilbur attended the rural schools near Castalia. On October 10, 1940 he was married to Mardella Reincke at the Parsonage in Monona, Iowa. The couple lived in the Castalia, Ossian, Gunder, Waukon, and Postville areas during their lifetime.

Wilbur died Wednesday May 16, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife who died June 19, 1989.

He is survived by his brother Virgil Reckward of Castalia, Iowa and a sister, Charlotte Bigler of Fowler, Colorado.
