Funeral services for Harvey Emil Wagner, age 79, of Waukon, Iowa will be held Saturday, August 4 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jim Wagner, Jr., Kristopher Wagner, Randy Thornton, Gary Thornton, Terry Thornton, Robert Thornton, Mark Davis, and Mike Burr.

Harvey Emil Wagner, son of Peter and Catherine "Katie" (Mertz) Wagner, was born October 12, 1910 in Bellevue, Iowa. He attended school in Mays Prairie, Brookings, South Dakota and Waterville, Iowa. He farmed a half mile east of Rossville for many years, lived in Waukon, Iowa, and Marquette, Iowa before returning to Waukon in 1973 where he lived until his death. On November 12, 1934 he married Lucille Evelyn Miller at the First Baptist Church in Waukon, Iowa. In addition to farming he had also been a former employee at the Iowa Turkey Products in Postville, Iowa.

Harvey died Tuesday, July 31, 1990 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Harlan Wagner in 1973, 5 brothers, Arthur Wagner, Lawrence Wagner, Frank Wagner, Theodore Wagner, and Harold Wagner; and 2 sisters, Henriette and Olive.

He is survived by his wife Lucille; 2 daughters, Shirley (Elton "Punk") Thornton of McGregor, Iowa and Arlene (Harold) Welch of Waukon, Iowa; and 1 son, James (Nancy) Wagner of Wauzeka, Wisconsin; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Martha Wachter of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and Viola Kramer of Solon, Iowa.
