Virginia Curran
Virginia Mae Curran, age 78, from Eagan, MN, a loving wife, a caring mother, a friend to many, passed away peacefully with her entire family present Sunday, June 12, 2011 after a short battle with a very aggressive cancer. Virginia’s final resting place is beside her beloved husband at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, MN.
Virginia was born January 14, 1933 in Lansing, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Huard) Kaufman. She was born and raised on Front Street and attended Lansing High School, graduating in 1950. Thereafter, she attended business school in Minneapolis, MN.
Virginia moved to California to be with the love of her life, Raymond Curran, son of William and Marguerite Curran of Lafayette Township, Lansing. Ray was on active duty in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific during the Korean War. Virginia and Ray were married in San Diego January 24, 1953. Upon returning home, to Lansing, and after farming for a few years, they moved, first to Cannon Falls, MN, then to Eagan, MN, where they raised their family.
After Ray’s retirement, they both traveled the country, visiting family and friends from Florida to North Dakota. She especially enjoyed fishing, and in particular, angling in North Dakota and northern Minnesota where the fishing trips became a regular occurrence.
Survivors include her children, son Michael (Pamela) Curran and granddaughter Kaitlin of Oklahoma City, OK, daughter Joan Curran of Burnsville, MN, and son Roger (Rachel) Curran and grandsons Riley and Ian of Farmington, MN; a brother, Harry (Viola) Kaufman of Hastings, MI; and a brother in-law, Ray Hudson of Titusville, FL.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Betty June Hudson; a sister-in-law, Norma Curran; and two brothers-in-law, William Curran and James Curran.The Waukon Standard, June 22, 2011
