Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Cletus B. Schulte, age 64, of Waukon, Iowa were held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dorchester, Iowa. The 10:30 a.m. services were conducted by Father Henry Charipar with burial in the church cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers were Ron McCormick, Dave Schulte, Duane Schulte, Paul Schulte, Jim Schulte, and Ron Regan.
Cletus B. Schulte, son of John C. and Ella (Connor) Schulte, was born August 19, 1926 in rural Dorchester, Iowa in Allamakee County. He attended rural schools. On August 24, 1950 he married Phyllis Ryan in Dorchester at St. Mary's Catholic Church. On May 5, 1990 he and Marlys (Lundtvedt) Tweten were married in Mabel, Minnesota. He was a farmer and a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Cletus died Wednesday, May 8, 1991 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister Margaret in infancy, and a step-grandson, Michael Stortz.
Cletus is survived by his wife, Marlys; 3 daughters, Ann (Mike) Monnens of Brookings, South Dakota, Peggy (Jim) Hennessy of Waukon, Iowa, Jane (Mark) Hackathorn of Parkville, Missouri; 3 sons, Mike Schulte of Waukon, Iowa, Tony Schulte of Spring Grove, Minnesota, and Ray Schulte of East Lansing, Michigan; 6 step-children, Wayne Tweten and David Tweten, both of Canton, Minnesota, Beverly (Gary) Stortz of Highlandville, Iowa, Dennis Tweten and Randy Tweten, both of Decorah, Iowa, and Darlene (Chuck) Dahl of Mabel, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren, 21 step-grandchildren; 7 brothers and sisters; Margaret "Margie" (Vivien) Wiltgen, Angela (Bill) Regan, Lloyd (Ruth) Schulte, Jeanette (Joe) McCormick, all of Waukon, Iowa, John B.(Mary) Schulte of Caledonia, Minnesota, Norbert (Rita) Schulte of New Albin, Iowa, and Greg (Jean) Schulte of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
NOTE: The obituary did not indicate if his first wife, Phyllis had died, or if they were divorced.
