Graveside services for Lessie M. Falb, age 93, were held Friday, September 10 at Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison, Arkansas. Holt Memorial Chapel of Harrison was in charge of arrangements.

Lessie M. Falb passed away Tuesday, September 7, 1999 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Lessie was born October 24, 1905 in Lone Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Ainsworth and Nettie (Rist) Powell. She spent the majority of her early years in Franklin Township, Allamakee County, in the rural Luana, Iowa area. On August 5, 1939 she married Kurt Falb of Chicago, Illinois where they lived and owned the Chicago Picture Supply Company. In 1972, the couple retired to Harrison, Arkansas. Kurt died in 1984.

Lessie was well-known in the Harrison area for the many thousands of pairs of booties she knitted for the hospital auxiliary which were given to new-born babies and sold in the gift shop. In addition to her husband, Lessie was preceded in death by her parents, her 3 brothers, William F. Powell, Louis I. Powell, and Clyde L. Powell.

She is survived by 1 brother, Harvey E. Powell of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and 2 sisters, Thelma B. Powell of Postville, Iowa and Lillian A. Stockton of Anamosa, Iowa in addition to many nieces and nephews.
