Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Memorial services for Roger T. Hawbaker, age 45, of Dunkerton, Iowa were held Wednesday, August 8 at 11 a.m. at Oppold-Hagerty Funeral Home in Waterloo, Iowa. Burial was at 3 p.m. August 8 at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa. Casket bearers were Gene Hansmeier, Lee Warneka, Dave Puhl, Mike Glenz, Gile Carlson, and Allan Mongrich.
Roger was born June 3, 1945 in Madison, Wisconsin to Tommy and Bernice (Hansmeier) Hawbaker. He served in the Naval Reserves from 1963 to 1964. On May 23, 1964 he married Linda Loven in Waukon, Iowa. He was employed for 26 years as an inspector at John Deere and Company Tractor Works. He was a member of Local 838 U.A.W. and Antigue Car Club.
Roger died on Monday, August 6, 1990 of a heart attack at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a brother Terry Hawbaker in 1982.
Roger is survived by his parents, Tommy and Bernice Hawbaker of Waterloo, Iowa, his wife, Linda; 2 daughters, Karrie French of Webster City, Iowa and Kellie Hawbaker, at home; a son, Brad Hawbaker of Fort Eustes, Virginia; 2 granddaughters; and a sister, Shirley Blanchard of West Germany.
