William L. Hennessy - 1915-1990

Wednesday, September 5, the 11 a.m. funeral service for William L. Hennessy, age 74, of Waukon, Iowa was held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Father Ed Lechtenberg officiated. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were his nephews Terry Hennessy, Kevin Hennessy, Ralph Hennessy, Jim Hennessy, Leo Keenan, and James Keenan.

William was born December 10, 1915 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, the son of John and Ellen (Gavin) Hennessy. He attended school through the tenth grade. On March 11, 1938 he married Florence Thies at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa. He was a member of this church at the time of his death. In 1942 they moved to California where he was a member of Carpenters Local Union 316 of California. He was a finish carpenter. After retirement they moved back to Waukon in 1982.

William died Saturday, September 1, 1990 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Joseph Hennessy; a brother, James Hennessy, and 3 sisters, Marcella Keenan, Mary Nelson, and Rita McGeough.

He is survived by his wife; 3 children, Sharon Coleman of Aurora, Colorado, James W. Hennessy of West Jordan, Utah, and Shirley Dourgarian of San Ramon, California; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, John T. Hennessy of Lansing, Iowa and 2 sisters, Regina Gamboni of Riverside, Illinois and Thelma Moore of Snohomish, Washington.
