Schutte Funeral Service of Postville, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville, Iowa Cemetery.
Beulah Jean was the daughter of Amos and Cora (Ewing) Brainard. She was born September 17, 1925 in Allamakee County near Luana, Iowa. She died Wednesday, April 5, 1995 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was 69 years old.
Beulah attended the Red School near her family home. On May 6, 1966 Beulah was married to Vincent Bowers at Waukon, Iowa. The couple lived in many areas, moving from job site to job site, while Vince was employed by Seedorff Masonry. In 1986 they moved to Volney, Iowa, north of Monona, Iowa and then to Waukon, Iowa in 1989. They have lived at their present home since 1993. Beulah held a variety of jobs as they moved around the area. She had been a waitress, an aide at the hospital in Postville, Iowa and for several years, had been employed at Iowa Turkey Products in Postville, Iowa. She had also worked as a volunteer for several organizations. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa, the Women of the ELCA, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Waukon Civic Club.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Cora; 4 brothers, Forest Brainard, Clarence Brainard, Milo Brainard, and Charles Brainard.
Beulah is survived by her husband, Vince of Waukon, Iowa; a brother Adelbert Brainard of Luana, Iowa and 2 sisters, Irene Brainard and Alice Brainard, both of Waukon, Iowa.
