Francis R. Kurt, 67, of Waukon, Iowa died Tuesday, April 20, 1999 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. No service will be held at this time. His body was donated to Mayo for scientific research.

Francis was born January 17, 1932 in Dubuque, Iowa to Francis and Helen (Kimnich) Kurt. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Waukon, Iowa and served in the United States Marines from 1952 to 1954. He worked as section foreman for Milwaukee Railroad from 1949 until 1965 and worked for the Allamakee Community Schools from 1968 to 1988. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon and the Retired Service Volunteer Program.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn Clark.

He is survived by 2 brothers, Crispin (Anna Mae) Kurt of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and John (Jane) Kurt of Waukon, Iowa; 2 sisters, Susan (Charles) O'Hollearn of Johnston, Iowa and Geraldine Connor of Waukon, Iowa; 15 nieces and nephews.
