Evelyn Mae Johnson, age 63, of Ellsworth, Iowa died Friday, April 4, 1997 at her home. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8 at the Community Church, east of Kamrar, Iowa. Dr. Craig Bex and the Rev. Gerald Naber officiated. Burial was in the Presbyterian Church Cemetery with arrangements being handled by Foster Funeral Home.

Evelyn was born June 16, 1933 to William and Lydia (Hesse) Kruger on a farm near Frankville, Iowa. She received her education in Frankville School and Postville, Iowa High School. On August 26, 1950 she married Elvin Johnson in Waukon, Iowa. They farmed north of Ellsworth, Iowa. Evelyn was a member of Community Church of Kamrar.

She was preceded in death by a son in infancy, her parents, her brother, Elmer Kruger, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Kruger.

She is survived by her husband, Elvin; 2 daughters, Carol Johnson of Dallas, Texas and Leah (David) Hove of Jewell, Iowa; a son, David (Gwendolyn) Johnson of Ellsworth, Iowa; 2 granddaughters; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Kruger of Ellsworth, Iowa and Esther (Willard) Snitker of Postville, Iowa; 1 brother, Emmett Kruger of Postville, Iowa and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Kruger of Decorah, Iowa.
