Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 11 for Nicholas "Nick" Joseph Garin, age 19, who died Sunday at his rural Lansing, Iowa home. Father Duane Raftis conducted the 10:30 a.m. services at Immaculate Conception Church, Wexford. Burial was in the church cemetery with Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Paul Howe, Tom Garrett, Bob Torson, Matt Mooney, Billy Manning, and Todd Corwin. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Guider and Greg Troendle.

Nick was born May 20, 1970 in LaCrosse, Wiscoinsin to Keith and Patricia (Gander) Garin. He attended Kee High School in Lansing, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Kathryn (Rouster) Gander and paternal grandparents, Cyril and Viola (Guider) Garin.

He is survived by his parents, 2 brothers, Randy Garin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and James Garin at home; 3 sisters, JoAnn (Gary) Perez of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Janette (Kenneth) Gully of Ft. Sheridan, Illinois and Janice Garin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
