Funeral services for Ruth Anna Feuerhelm were held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 20 at Lansing United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Mattson officiating. She died Tuesday, July 17, 1990 at the age of 79 in her rural Lansing, Iowa home. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Gary Hirth, Dale Hartong, Jeff Gaunitz, and Neal, Roger, Tom, Jerry, and Ron Feuerhelm.

Ruth was born November 20, 1910 in Ellendale, North Dakota to John and Mary (Kern) Layer. They moved from North Dakota to Lansing in 1930 and she graduated from the Lansing High School in 1930. On August 24, 1935 she married Herbert H. Feuerhelm in Elkader, Iowa. She was a member of the Lansing UMC.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert, who died June 9, 1984 and a sister, May Belle Dee.

Surviving are two sons, Lee Feuerhelm and Lynn Feuerhelm, both of Lansing, Iowa; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Helen Hirth of Waukon, Iowa, and Edna Layer and Alyce Feuerhelm, both of Des Moines, Iowa.
