Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 24 for Lila Korene Stegen, age 34, of Waukon, Iowa who died Saturday, June 21, 1997 at Veterans Memorial Hospital following a car accident west of Waukon, Iowa. The Rev. David Andreae conducted the 2 p.m. services at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, Iowa. Burial was in the Iowa River Cemetery, rural Dorchester, Iowa with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Lee, Lloyd, Mark and Marty Stegen, Ray Steele and Sid Sanness.

Lila was born June 4, 1963 in Waukon,Iowa to Lyle and Helen (Forde) Stegen. She attended Allamakee Community Schools where she participated in drama, band, chorus, and was a cheerleader. Lila also took some classes at Luther College. She married Roger Hanson, Jr. at Big Canoe Lutheran Church.

Lila was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Lloyd Forde and Arnold Stegen.

Survivors include her 5 children: Joseph Hanson, Sena Hanson, Dan Hanson, Jake Hanson, and Chris Hanson, all at home; her parents of rural Decorah, Iowa; 2 brothers Lee Stegen of Waukon, Iowa and Lloyd Stegen of Decorah, Iowa; her husband, Roger Hanson, Jr; grandmothers, Harriet Forde and Mabel Stegen, both of Decorah, Iowa; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
