Mabel M. Heins

Mabel M. Heins, daughter of Louis and Emma (Harnack) Meier, was born May 2, 1900 at Postville, Iowa. She died June 26, 1993, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at Decorah, Iowa. She was 93.

She was baptized June 24, 1900 and confirmed March 28, 1915, both in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Mabel attended the Lybrand School in Allamakee County. On Feb. 14, 1922, Mabel was married to Leo F. Heins at Postville. They were the parents of four children. The family farmed south of Postville and moved to Postville in 1950.

Mabel was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and a faithful member of the Women of the ELCA. She had also been a member of the Henderson-Prairie Study Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo, who died Sept. 21, 1977; two brothers in infancy and a brother, Hall; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Adalia) Zieman and Mrs. Horace (Ella) Gordanier and two sons-in-law, Frank Tehel and LeRoy Duwe.

Surviving are four children, Donald (DeElta) Heins of Luana; Marilynn (Elmer) Radloff of Monona; Ramona (Clarence) Everman and Dorothy (Ray) Suckow, all of Postville; 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mabel Heins were held Tuesday, June 29, 1993 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. R. Michael Brown officiated. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Frank D. Tehel, Mike Haire, Leo Te_____ (the rest is gone)
