Roger Lee Russett, age 59, son of Oscar John and Laura Wilhelmine (Snitker) Russett, was born October 22, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He died on Tuesday, March 17, 1992 at his home in Postville, Iowa. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 21, 1992 at 10:30 in St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa with the Rev. Ted Ager officiating. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were Darron Sander, Jerry Bissell, Craig Martins, Steve Russett, Keith Kutzbach, and Kermit Miller.

Roger was baptized in June 1934 at Waukon, Iowa by the Rev. Van Nice and confirmed in 1945 in the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville by the Rev. Seaman. In 1944 his family moved to the farm in Allamakee County, north of Luana. Roger attended Ludlow School #4 and he graduated from the Luana High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. On May 24, 1956 he married Mary Jane Elizabeth Martins at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. They had 4 children. They farmed on the family farm until 1988 when they moved to their present home in Postville, Iowa. Roger was employed by Monona Wire Corporation since February 13, 1989. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Luana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Ronald Russett and Richard Russett and a brother-in-law, Carlton Martins.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; a son, Kenneth (Teresa) Russett of Fremont, California; 3 daughters, Brenda (Dr. Kenneth) Miller of Darien, Wisconsin, Marjorie (William) Baskerville of Cary, North Carolina, and Valerie Russett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Claudia Berns, Alisa Berns, Nick Berns, Matt Baskerville, Melissa Baskerville, and Christopher Russett; a sister, Cheryl (Rick) Chapin of Portland, Oregon; sisters-in-law Darlene Russett of Des Moines, Iowa, Joann(Lyle) Groth of Postville, Iowa, Lucille Martins of West Des Moines, Iowa, Norma (Daryl) Sander of Postville, Iowa, and Anna (Darold) Lamphier of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and 5 aunts, Bertha Snitker of Wisconsin, Agnes Blumhagen of Castalia, Iowa, Grace Russett of Postville, Iowa, Lorraine Russett of Waukon, Iowa and Mae Russett of Ulysses, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
