Esther H. Buntrock, age 87, of Waukon, Iowa, died March 4, 2000 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, following a brief illness. Services were held the morning of March 7 at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon with the Rev. Richard Eick officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa.

Esther Henrietta Buntrock was born August 15, 1912 on the Jefferson Township farm in Allamakee County, Iowa of her parents Adolph and Carolina (Nagel) Siekmeier. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ and graduated from Waukon High School in 1929. Upon graduation, she worked as a maid for a family in Madison, Wisconsin before attending the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Madison where she graduated in 1938.

Esther worked for two years doing private care in Madison before moving back to Waukon. She married Allan Buntrock on October 5, 1940, at the home of her parents. After Esther and Allan were married, Esther took care of several ill relatives. From 1972 until 1986, she was a nurse at the Good Samaritan...*
