Funeral Services for Herman Heins
Funeral services are being held at 2 p.m. this afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for Herman Karl Heins, 87, who passed away Sunday. Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig, pastor of St. Paul's, will be in charge. Burial will be in Postville cemetery.
Herman Karl Heins was born October 20, 1864 near Garnavillo and passed away at his home in Postville Sunday, April 27, aged 87 years, six months and 10 days. He was the son of Herman Heins and Minnie Klinkenberg Heins and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran churches at Garnavillo and Postville.
He was married to Matilda Radloff on April 22, 1892 and to this union four children were born, three of whom survive. After their marriage, the couple established the family home on a farm four miles south of Luana. In 1919 they retired from the farm moving to Elkader and in 1928 moved to Postville where they have continued to make their home.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife; three children, Walter of Luana, Lutzie (Mrs. Henry Landt) of Postville, and Frances (Mrs. Joe Harnack) of Postville; three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren in addition to many friends and relatives.
Mr. Heins was preceded in death by his parents and one son who died in infancy.
