Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 28 in Bethany Evangelical Free church in LaCrosse, Wisconsin for Kenneth L. Thompson, age 57, Dorchester, Iowa, Onalaska, Wisconsin, and Spring Grove, Minnesota grain elevator owner and operator. Burial was in the Onalaska Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Bubar officiating.
Kenneth died Sunday, October 25, 1987 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin after a heart attack. He was born June 11, 1930 in Allamakee County, the son of Alfred and Caroline (Leuhr) Thompson. He married Lyla Jean Holty on December 30, 1955. He received his Master's Degree in electronics and mechanics while in the service. He was president of Thompson Grain Company, a business he started and operated with his family. He was a member of the Spring Grove Legion Post #249.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Survivors are his wife, Lyla Jean; 2 sons, Robert Thompson of Spring Grove, Minnesota and Jeffrey Thompson of Los Angeles, California, and 3 daughters, Debra Watts of Rochester, Minnesota, Carol Thompson of Burnsville, Minnesota and Sharon Thompson, at home; 6 grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Phyllis Thompson of Spring Grove, Minnesota and Mrs. Leland (Evelyn) Wiemerslage of Dorchester, Iowa.
