Virgil R. Larson, age 67, of Prairie du Chien, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at
his home. Funeral Services were held Friday, April 11, 2003, at the Garrity Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Paul Graham officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Prairie du
Chien. Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien assisted with arrangements.
Virgil was born January 14, 1936, in Waterville, the son of Ingvald and Clara (Goeke)
Larson. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Virgil married Anna Steppe
on April 1, 1955, at Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany. He worked as a mechanic for George's
Standard in Prairie du Chien for 25 years and later for Huinker Chevrolet in Monona for 15
years until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Eagles Club. Virgil was a loving
husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be sadly missed by
all, especially his faithful companion Heidi. Virgil is survived by his wife, Anna of
Prairie du Chien; a son, Greg (Laura) of Foley, Minn.; three brothers, Lawrence (Joanne) of
Harpers Ferry, Norman (Arlene) of Nashua, and Melvin (Vicki) of Monona; one half brother,
Oliver Neuring of Marshalltown; a sister, Mrs. Charles Evangeline (Dolly) Jorgenson of
Mauston, Wis.; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two
step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister
Connie.
