A Memorial Service for Donald Kerr was held Saturday, April 19, 2003, at 1:30 P. M. in St.
Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverend James Allison officiated, assisted by
the Reverend Dave Lenth. The organist was Ramona Everman. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation
Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Inurnment was in the Postville
Cemetery.Donald Harry Kerr, the son of Kenneth Joel Kerr and Joyce Mae (nee Turner) Kerr, was born August 3, 1939, on the Kerr family farm in Clermont Township, Fayette County, near Postville, Iowa. He passed away Monday, April 14, 2003, in Veterans Memorial Hospital at Waukon, Iowa. He had reached the age of 63 years, 8 months, and 11 Days. He was baptized October 15, 1939 in Community Presbyterian Church at Postville and
confirmed there on December 16, 1951. Don graduated from Postville High School in 1957.On June 17, 1961 Don was married to Norma Lou Behnken in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville by the Reverend Charles E. Witt. To this union three children were born. They farmed south of Postville. Don was a member of the Holstein Association. He had been employed by the Postville Telephone Company for the last twenty years. Don was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He had served two terms on the Church Council and as President of the Council, as well as a member of the Property Committee, the Youth
Committee, and sang in the church choir. He was active in 4-H and had been a 4-H Leader for ten years. Don liked to work outdoors and especially enjoyed his fish pond in the back yard and his
International 656 tractor. He also liked to go houseboating on the Mississippi River with friends.He is survived by his wife, Norma, a daughter, Deanna Kerr and her significant other, Rex Fox, of Lisbon, IA, a son, David Kerr and wife, Brenda, of Peoria, AZ, and a daughter, Barbara and husband, Del Tracey, of Shellsburg, IA; three grandchildren, Cameron Kerr, Mariah Kerr, and Joshua Tracey; four sisters, Dorothy and husband, Gilbert Livingood, Marjorie Hamme, and Peggy Hart all of Postville, and Geraldine Meyerhoff of Cedar Falls, IA, one brother, C. Keith Kerr and wife, Verta, his mother-in-law, Lucille Behnken of Postville, two sisters-in-law, Kay Behnken of Monona, IA, and Janet and husband, Roger Clement of New Hampton, IA, nieces and nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Walter Behnken, brothers-in-law, Alan Behnken, Ed Hamme, John Hart, Willard Meyerhoff, and Roy Evans.
