Johann Joachim Juergen Heinrick Busacker was born on July 3, 1830, in Grebs, Domitz, Mecklenberg Schwer-wein, Germany, and on July 30, was married to Dora Brandtman. In the year 1872 he came with his family to America and lived for a short time at Garnavillo, then on a farm south of Luana. In 1895 he moved to the farm now occupied by Conrad Welzel. In 1903 he and his wife came to Postville. She passed away just eleven years to a day before her husband. On Thursday last he passed away after an illness of a week. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran church and was at one time president of the society. He was a member of the Mannerchor Society and they rendered some fine song numbers during the funeral service. Rev, Schmidt delivered a very able sermon in German and gave it in English for the benefit of the friends present who could not understand the German. The following are the children: H. J. Busacker, Mrs. Emma Schultz, Mrs. Minnie Welzcl, one sister, Mrs. Fred Panncke, also 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the Lutheran church. The burial service of the Masonic order were given at the grave with Robert Thompson of Cresco officiating.
