Margaret E. Nelson, age 68, of Caledonia, Minnesota, died Monday July 20, 1987 in the St. Francis Medical Center, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 23, at 10 a.m. at Steffen-McCormick Funeral Home in Caledonia, Minnesota and at 10:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caledonia. The Rev. Joseph Cashman officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia, Minnesota.

Margaret was born June 15, 1919 in Waukon, Iowa to Harlan and Mary Link. On June 25, 1945 she married Alden Nelson in Waukon, Iowa. Alden died October 20, 1986. She had been a resident of Caledonia for the past 30 years and was employed by Caledonia Public Schools. She previously had taught school in Dorchester, Iowa. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, and her parents.

Surviving are five sons: Mike Nelson of Coralville, Iowa, John Nelson of Viroqua, Wisconsin, Steve Nelson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Bill Nelson and David Nelson, both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; seven daughters: Linda Palen of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Lisa Foellmi of Caledonia, Minnesota, Mary Boelman of Belmond, Iowa, Susan Kittleson of Caledonia, Minnesota, Tina Hillman and Liz Bickford of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Lori Nelson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 24 grandchildren; and six sisters, Fran Schoen of Hastings, Minnesota, Barbara "Bobbee" Dowdal of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Elaine Hibbs of Moline, Illinois, Liz Pascoe of LaJolla, California, Alice Christin of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and Mary Lou Jones of Evanston, Illinois.
