Harold T. Hangartner
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Harold T. Hangartner, 45, who passed away suddenly last Wednesday at West Branch. Final rites were conducted Sunday by the Sunday by the Rev. F. R. Ludwig, first in the Schutte Funeral home and later in St. Paul's Lutheran church. Interment was in the Postville cemetery.
Mr. Hangartner was born here February 24, 1902, as the son of Frank F. and Emma Miller Hangartner. He grew to manhood here, attending the Postville schools. During his high school days he was an outstanding athlete. Upon completion of his schooling he learned the buttermakers' trade and followed that work until his passing, being employed in a number of creameries about the state before locating at West Branch.
Mr. Hangartner was married to Violet Beck of West Union on October 24, 1927. He is survived by his widow, his father and step-mother, three brothers, John C. Hangartner of Glendale, Calif., Frank W. Hangartner of Los Angeles, Calif., and Robert M. Hangartner of Postville; two sisters, Gretchen, Mrs. Roger Harris, of Postville, and Margaret, Mrs. William Vollmer, of Los Lunas, New Mexico; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Florence Rathbun, of Covina, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his mother and one sister, Florence, who passed away at the age of two years.
