Funeral services for Henry F. Althouse were held Wednesday, May 27, 1987 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran church at Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Robert Schultz, Norman Schultz, Arthur Linderbaum, Paul Benjegerdes, Merle Cook, and Arno Linderbaum.

Henry Frank Dietrich Althouse, son of Henry and Anna (Linderbaum) Althouse, was born June 27, 1899 in Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa. He died Sunday May 24, 1987 in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa. He was baptized August 20, 1899 at Postville and confirmed April 7, 1912 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Castalia, Iowa. He attended the Bloomfield Township School in Winneshiek County, Iowa. Henry was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. He married Martha Bechtel, on November 19, 1930. They had two children. They farmed north of Postville, Iowa since 1930.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandsons, Gary and Wayne Borseth, 2 brothers William and Ludwig Althouse and one sister, Caroline.

Survivors are his wife, Martha; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Dorothy) Borseth of Decorah, Iowa, a son, Leonard and his wife Mary Althouse of Postville, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Ann Borseth, Stephen Althouse, Randy Althouse, and Debra Althouse; 1 brother, Carl Althouse and 1 sister, Emma Benjegerdes, both of Postville, Iowa.
