Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Gaylord J. Moose of rural Monona, Iowa died Tuesday, December 29, 1987 in the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa at the age of 77. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona, Iowa with the Rev. Marion Bloodworth officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Leland, Richard, Jim and Doug Moose and Glenn and Mike Hermeier. Honorary pallbearers were Willis Johanningmeier, Matt Freilinger, Forrest Hendrson, Charles Fick, Robert Drahn and Palmer Halverson.
Gaylord was born July 17, 1910 in Frankville, Iowa to Gerald and Estella (Livingood) Moose. He attended Frankville area schools and other rural schools. On April 17, 1935 he married Lois Gilson at the Methodist parsonage in Monona, Iowa. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer and a member of the Farm Bureau and the Garden City Church, in Monona, Iowa.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Milburn Moose, Ralph Moose, and Hollis Moose, and two sisters, Coral Klees and Eloise Welch.
Surviving are his wife, Lois; a son Albert Moose of Monona, Iowa and a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Diane) Hermeier of Stoddard, Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Claude Moose of Waukon, Iowa and Hubert Moose of Garnavillo, Iowa.
