Funeral services were held on Monday, April 14 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa for little Elizabeth Ann Huebner, 21 months old, who was killed on Friday, April 11, 1986, when she was struck by a car in front of her home .3 of a mile south of the Postville City limits on County Road W-64. She had followed her older brothers as they ran into the road. Her brothers quickly took her to their home where she was then taken to the Community Memorial Hospital where she died soon after arrival. The driver of the car was Susan Turner, age 25, of Des Moines, Iowa, but formerly of Postville. No charges were filed. Miss Turner was traveling north on W-64 and her visibility was handicapped by dust from a vehicle that had just driven ahead of her. She told the patrol that she did not see the child until after driving her car up over the hill near the Huebner home. She said that upon seeing an object in front of her, she thought it was a dog. She tried to turn to avoid the animal and quickly realized that it was a child. She was unable to avoid hitting the tiny tot.

Rev. Julius Peterson assisted by David Palm conducted the funeral services. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Terry Meyer, Leon Bachelder, Merlin Harnack, and Richard Mohs. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Elizabeth Ann was born June 20, 1984 in West Union, Iowa to Dwayne and Janet (Gross) Anderson. She was baptized July 22, 1984. In addition to her parents she is survived by her half brothers, Christopher and Aaron Anderson, both at home; her grandparents Eugene and Eileen Huebner of Postville, Iowa and Alvin and Lilli Gross of Eldorado, Iowa; her paternal great-grandmother Leona Sadler of Postville, Iowa and maternal great-grandmother, Ottilie Rauter of Eldorado, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandfather, Urban Sadler and maternal great-grandfather David Rauter, her paternal great-grandparents Henry and Senta Huebner and maternal great-grandparents, Fritz and Elsie Gross.
