Allen B. Hartley, age 85, of rural New Albin, Iowa died Tuesday, June 23, 1987 in St. Francis Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 25 at 2 p.m. in Mount Hope Presbyterian Church, New Albin, Iowa. The Rev. Lloyd Fried officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery with Haugen-Roble Funeral Home of Caledonia, Minnesota in charge of arrangements.

Allen was born March 3, 1902 in Allamakee County to Benjamin and Caroline (Bulman) Hartley. He graduated from Waukon High School in Waukon, Iowa. On August 23, 1930 he married Ella Thies in Eitzen, Minnesota. Ella died in 1971. He farmed in Union City Township in Allamakee County. She was a member of Mount Hope church where he served as an elder.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a sister.

Survivors are two sons, Loren Hartley of Eitzen, Minnesota and Donald Hartley of Cannon Falls, Minnesota; 2 daughters, Ramona Hennings of Dubuque, Iowa and Charlotte Gerdes of Caledonia, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
