WAUKON, Ia. -- (Special) -- Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Hartley, 77, who died Nov. 25, were held Tuesday at the Hope Presbyterian church, the Rev. C. Willemssen of Lansing officiating. She was the widow of the late Joseph Hartley, Union township.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clyde Sadler and Mrs. Marian Raby of Boulder, Colo., and Belle Hartley of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Charles and Albert, both at home; and one sister, Mrs. Clara McPherson, Great Falls, Mont.

Death of Mrs. Carrie Hartley

Mrs. Carrie Hartley, a resident of Union City township, died Friday afternoon at the family home. She had been a semi-invalid for over ten years. As Carrie Howe she was born May 10, 1876, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Howe, early residents of French Creek township. Following her marriage in 1896 to Joseph Hartley they established their home on the farm where she died.

She is survived by two sons, Albert and Charles, the latter who is married and who with her two sons [sic] rendered her every care possible during all these years. She is also survived by three daughters, Miss Belle, R.N., Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Clyde Sadler and Mrs. Marion Raby, both of Boulder, Colo.; all of whom were present at the funeral service.

An only sister lives in Montana. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren and some great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1919, and by a son John J., who died some years ago.

The remains reposed at the Martin Bros. funeral parlors until Monday afternoon when services were held at the Mount Hope Presbyterian Church conducted by the pastor, the Rev. C. H. Willemssen. Burial was made in the family lot in the nearby cemetery.
