Funeral services were held for Louis Irving Jones, age 83, Saturday, September 27 at 1:30 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa with Pastor Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Gallagher, Melvin Reeder, Dale Reeder, Raymond Odegard, Leonard Feuerhelm, and Charles Langland.

Louis was born in Allamakee County on August 19, 1903 to Lewis A. and Margaret (Miller) Jones. He died on September 25, 1986 in Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He received his education in Waukon Schools and also at the University of Dubuque, Iowa. On March 15, 1944 he married Mildred Ryan in Rochester, Minnesota. They made their home in the Waukon area where he served 40 years as deputy county engineer as a land surveyor. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his brother Lloyd Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; 2 sons, James L. Jones and Thomas B. Jones; a brother Earl B. Jones; and 3 grandchildren.
